Our Farm History

Leithen View is a third generation family sheep farm, located on Leithen Road in Greenvale District, in the deep south of New Zealand. The property was purchased in 1934 and for more than 30 years has been farmed chemical free. Since 2015, the farm has been in the daily care of a local farmer who is a perfect match considering his many years of experience in land and animal care and his shared passion for practicing “beyond organic” and applying holistic farming principles to everything we do.

Our Farming Principles

The term “beyond organic” to us means farming in a way that produces the healthiest, most nutrient dense, tender and great tasting lamb, while in parallel building soil carbon creating sustainability both long and short term. We believe in the importance of growing nutritional food to help ensure the good health of future generations. Suffering our own health challenges through the years, largely overcome with a renewed focus on nutrition, has given us first hand experience of the benefits of good clean food. Beyond organic farming also does not deplete and pollute soils and waterways.

Our Lambs

All lambs are raised outdoors, enjoying a smorgasbord of different grasses, clovers and herbs while sheltering amongst trees and natural vegetation that grow on the farm. There are also a number of freshwater streams running through the farm providing easy access to clean mountain water for the lambs to drink. The soil is nourished with natural fertilizers as needed, and this together with holistic grazing practices, continually regenerates and builds the soil. Farming this way produces healthy lambs with incredible quality meat. In summary, we are very proud to offer Leithen View lamb knowing that our beyond organic farming principles enable us to bring what we consider to be some of the best lamb available in the market today – from our farm to your table
